Buying A Home In Connecticut

It has been my experience, whether you are purchasing your first home or are more "seasoned" to the process, that I can help you find the "perfect place" in this changing real estate market.

I have lived in seven locations in CT which allows me to service a larger area and meet the needs of my clients that are unsure which town they want to move to. I also work with a lot of out of state clients who fly in and spend time with me looking at both houses AND towns.

To top that off, I have also put together a great web based shopping process that will help you see the types of homes, prices, and other criteria important to you before we even make the first appointment! Be sure to take advantage of excellent features such as the Daily Alert feature and the feature that allows you to save listings and track their progress (still active, on deposit, sold).

Although different areas require specific forms, the following general steps apply through the house hunting experiences:

  • Find a Realtor you like and trust and sign a contract. Whether you work with me or anyone else, start a working relationship with your Realtor. Having a contract ensures both parties of loyalty and commitment throughout the process.
  • Find a loan officer and loan program that works for you. This will give you a comfort zone as to what price range you want to look at, and what negotiations you can make. Most home owners want all buyers to be at least pre-qualified before they will allow them to view their home.
  • Get an attorney. Check with your loan officer; they usually have a list of attorneys that they will allow to do their paperwork. It is a cost saver to use the same attorney as the bank.
  • Start looking! We are in a transition market and yet the rates are still excellent. You will need a professional to help guide you, represent you, and be dedicated to you and your life change!
